Semi-Truck Fire Shuts Down I-90 Westbound Lanes in Avon

AVON, Ohio — According to 19 News (WOIO), a semi-truck caught fire on Interstate 90 westbound in Avon early Monday morning, causing significant traffic delays during rush hour.

Avon police said the incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m., forcing two of the three westbound lanes to close. The westbound exit at Nagel Road remained open while emergency crews worked to contain the blaze.

Images shared by 19 News show flames and thick black smoke engulfing the truck’s trailer as firefighters battled the fire. One commuter described traffic moving at only about 4 mph as the freeway was reduced to a single lane.

Police reported that the truck driver was not injured. Cleanup and recovery efforts continued through the morning.
