Stolen Vehicles From Perkins Township Dealership Lead to Crashes, Two Suspects Still At Large

Two suspects are in custody and two others remain on the run after a chase involving several vehicles stolen from Perkins Township early Thursday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, four vehicles were taken from the dealership before dawn. Around 6:20 a.m., troopers saw the vehicles traveling on State Route 2. None of the vehicles had license plates or dealer tags, and the drivers were wearing ski masks.

Troopers attempted to stop the vehicles on State Route 611 in Avon around 7:15 a.m. One of the stolen vehicles crashed at the intersection. A second vehicle turned around and struck a Lorain County Sheriff’s cruiser head-on. The deputy suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital.

A third stolen vehicle was later found abandoned, and its driver fled in an unknown direction. A fourth suspect fled on foot after physically struggling with officers. Drones and K-9 units are currently being used to search nearby areas for the remaining suspects.

Highway Patrol officials said an additional recently stolen vehicle was reported after the pursuit and is believed to be connected to the incident. Several crashes resulted from the chase, but no additional injuries have been reported.

State Route 611 was closed during the investigation and reopened around 8:45 a.m. Additional updates are expected throughout the day as the search continues.
