The Sheffield Village community gathered Monday night for a candlelight vigil honoring a longtime police lieutenant who passed away Friday evening surrounded by family. Officers stood together outside the department, sharing memories that brought both laughter and tears as they reflected on his leadership, mentorship, and service to the Village.

Residents joined officers in lighting the night in his memory, a turnout the department described as a testament to the impact he made both within law enforcement and throughout the community. The department thanked those who attended and encouraged the public to continue carrying forward his spirit of dedication.
On Tuesday, the Sheffield Village Police Department released official details for Wednesday’s public procession, inviting the community to join in honoring the lieutenant’s service and memory as he makes his final journey through the Village.
According to the department, the procession will begin staging at 12:00 p.m. on Kevin Street, with step-off at 12:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to respectfully line the route to pay tribute. The procession will travel:
• North onto Abbe Road
• West onto French Creek Road
• North onto East River Road
• East onto Colorado Avenue, with a brief stop in front of the Sheffield Village Police Department
• North onto Harris Road, concluding at Brookside High School
The department asks those attending to remain safely off the roadway and follow officer instructions.
In addition to the public procession, the Patriot Guard Riders have organized an Honor Mission, with a flag line forming at Brookside High School. While those participating in the flag line traditionally bring 3-by-5 foot American flags, members of the general public attending along the route are not required to bring anything.
The community is invited to stand along the procession route to show support for the lieutenant’s family, friends, and fellow officers as they navigate this difficult time.
