Grand jury indicts suspect in expanding Lorain homicide case

LORAIN — Donte Jamar Parker II remains in custody at the Lorain County Jail as prosecutors move forward with an aggravated murder case and other felony matters that developed over the course of multiple investigations in Lorain County.

The case stems from the fatal shooting of Leonard A. McCall Jr., 39, who was killed on Nov. 25, 2024, on West 14th Street in Lorain. Police investigated the homicide while the case remained pending through the end of last year.

After Parker was returned to custody, prosecutors continued their filings as investigations progressed. Court records show a Lorain County grand jury later returned indictments, including an aggravated murder charge tied to the 2024 homicide, along with several related felony counts. Other charges connected to separate incidents proceeded through different court tracks..

Following Parker’s recapture, prosecutors expanded their filings as investigations continued. Court records show a Lorain County grand jury later returned indictments, including an aggravated murder charge tied to the 2024 homicide, along with several related felony counts. Other charges connected to separate incidents proceeded through different court tracks.

Parker has pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him.

Court records show Parker’s cases involve multiple felony and misdemeanor charges across separate proceedings, including an aggravated murder charge and other serious felony allegations tied to different incidents. Authorities have said the filings stem from multiple events occurring in late 2024 and early 2025, rather than a single incident.

Some charges filed earlier in the course of the investigations were later dismissed as prosecutors refined the cases. Those dismissals do not affect the pending aggravated murder charge or several other felony matters that remain active.

Jail records list Parker’s total bond exposure at approximately $3.65 million across multiple cases. The bond amounts are spread across separate charges rather than a single consolidated bond. While bond has been posted on some lower-level counts, Parker remains incarcerated due to the severity of the felony cases still pending.

The aggravated murder case has not yet been assigned to a trial judge as of this week. Court proceedings are ongoing, with additional hearings expected as pretrial motions continue.
