According to the Chronicle-Telegram’s, Dempsey Miller, the pastor of Lorain Baptist Church, stated that she did not yet have any additional information regarding the incident. “We were told to clear the area, and we’re just waiting for the officials to give us further updates,” he said. Miller also mentioned that the church had cooperated fully with the emergency response teams and was fully committed to ensuring the safety of the community.

By 11:04 a.m., officials from the Hazardous Materials (HazMat) team communicated over the scanner, advising Lorain Police to inform residents of 37th Street that it was safe to return to their homes. A Facebook post later indicated that the trailer contained paint and tires, which led to the initial concerns. According to a statement from the HazMat team, the materials in the trailer were not deemed to be an immediate threat once properly assessed, but safety measures were still prioritized due to the uncertainty of the situation.

An individual familiar with the situation clarified that the trailer contained only standard household chemicals, including some paint strippers and tires. “It was 99% precautionary,” they said. “Lorain Fire had everything totally under control, but a full hazmat response was called in – suits, decon tents, the whole 9 yards – just to make sure everything was safe.”

The incident sparked further discussions online, with local residents voicing concerns over the situation. Questions were raised about potential risks, including the possibility of trespassing or environmental contamination from rainwater washing chemicals onto the ground. Local authorities reassured the community that proper precautions were taken to prevent any environmental hazards, and the situation was carefully managed.

An update from a local resident confirmed that the situation took place near a ditch behind the church, which had also raised questions about whether the location posed any risks to nearby water systems. Local authorities were seen taking extra precautions to monitor the area and assess the potential for runoff.

The incident remains under investigation, and authorities continue to monitor the area for any further concerns. Authorities have yet to disclose whether any charges or further actions will result from the incident, but a full investigation is ongoing, with a focus on determining how the trailer came to be on the property and whether any potential violations of safety or property laws occurred.
