Elyria, Ohio — A suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at the Family Dollar on Lake Avenue that occurred May 11, according to Elyria Police.
Detectives identified the suspect as Joel F. Molina during the course of their investigation into the incident. Police said the robbery happened around 8:14 p.m. at the Family Dollar located at 401 Lake Avenue.
According to investigators, a masked man entered the store, displayed a handgun, and stole multiple packs of cigarettes before fleeing the area on foot. No injuries were reported.

Following a tip developed during the investigation, detectives were able to identify Molina as the suspect. On May 20, Elyria Police, with assistance from the Lorain Police Department, located and arrested him in the 400 block of Foster Avenue. Police said he was taken into custody without incident.
Molina has been charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. After his arrest, he was interviewed by detectives and transported to the Lorain County Jail, where he is being held pending his initial court appearance.
Police say the arrest comes after more than a week of investigative work following the robbery.
