Elyria Man Arrested on Warrants Alleging Threats to Shoot at Residence and Police

ELYRIA, OHIO — Elyria Police arrested 33-year-old Dacorean M. Wagner on July 29, 2025, in the backyard of 1049 Melvyn Lane, following reports that he had threatened to shoot up a residence on Barbara Street and engage in a shootout with police.

Officers were dispatched shortly after midnight to the 1000 block of Barbara Street, where a resident reported receiving multiple messages from Wagner, her ex-boyfriend, stating that he planned to shoot at her home. She told police she was in an upstairs bedroom at the time and believed she heard two gunshots outside.

According to the police report, Wagner allegedly sent a photograph of the woman’s driveway and had made similar threats in the past. Officers formed a perimeter and used a thermal imaging optic to track a male running from the scene toward Melvyn Lane. Officers observed Wagner exiting a backyard and took him into custody at gunpoint without incident.

Wagner was arrested on warrants for:

  • Making Terroristic Threats (ORC 2909.23, F3)
  • Domestic Violence (ORC 2919.25, M1)
  • Aggravated Menacing (ORC 2903.21, M1)

No firearms or weapons were found, and officers were unable to locate physical evidence of gunfire at the scene. Wagner was booked into the Lorain County Jail and is being held without bond pending arraignment.

According to the report, officers recovered messages and photographs Wagner allegedly sent and entered them into evidence. No new charges were filed in connection with this incident.
