Collection benefits Ronald McDonald House programs
LORAIN — Lorain County residents are being encouraged to save aluminum pull tabs from beverage cans as part of a countywide collection challenge benefiting Ronald McDonald House programs.
The Lorain County Solid Waste Management District launched the effort in partnership with the Keep Lorain County Beautiful Advisory Board. Residents, businesses, schools, civic organizations and local fire, EMS and police departments are invited to participate.
Collected tabs will be recycled, with the proceeds supporting programs that provide comfort and resources to families with seriously ill or injured children.
“Pull tab collection is an easy way for the Lorain County community to help a small item make a big impact,” said Thomas Patric III, director of the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District. “Save your tabs and help support families in their time of need.”
Participants have until Dec. 30 to turn in their pull tabs. Tabs should be placed in a clean container and may be dropped off at local police, fire and EMS stations or brought to 540 South Abbe Road in Elyria.
