Three deaths announced within five days
LORAIN — Police are investigating the death of a man found at a Washington Avenue building Thursday morning as a homicide, marking the second homicide investigation announced along the street in less than a week.
Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Washington Avenue at approximately 9:30 a.m. after maintenance workers discovered the man’s body while working at the building.
Police identified the deceased only as a Lorain man in his late 50s. His name is being withheld until his family can be notified.
Information from the initial investigation remains limited. However, police said investigators found evidence in the immediate area that led them to investigate the death as a homicide.

The man appeared to have been dead for several days before his body was discovered, according to police.
Thursday’s discovery came four days after two teenagers were fatally shot at a short-term rental in the 700 block of Washington Avenue.
Police responded to that shooting shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday and found an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the shooting occurred during a gathering at the rental after an argument escalated into an altercation. A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with felonious assault and weapons-related offenses. Additional charges remained possible.
Lorain police are working with the Lorain County Coroner’s Office on the latest case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police detective bureau at 440-204-2105. Callers may remain anonymous.
