LORAIN — Inspections of the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge on East Erie Avenue, also known as U.S. 6, are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, and Monday, Aug. 31.
Vehicle traffic will continue across the bridge as normal, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The work will affect the bridge’s opening schedule for boat traffic. Vessels needing the bridge opened must provide 15 minutes’ notice so workers can move their inspection equipment.
Inspectors will use a specialized truck with equipment that extends beneath the bridge, according to a U.S. Coast Guard notice. Spotters will watch for approaching boats while the inspections are underway.
Boaters should provide advance notice directly to the bridge tender.
