Midview Selects Principal Chad Heuser to Lead District as Superintendent

GRAFTON — Midview Local School District has selected Chad Heuser as its next superintendent, promoting the current high school principal to the district’s top leadership position effective Aug. 1, 2026.

Heuser’s appointment will be formally approved during a special Board of Education meeting scheduled for April 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Midview Middle School, Room 110, according to a district release  .

The Board of Education began its superintendent search in March following the resignation of the previous superintendent in February. After receiving applications, the board conducted first-round interviews with five candidates before narrowing the field to three finalists for second-round interviews on April 26. Those final interviews included a panel of school community members  .

Board President Tom Tomasheski said the district used community survey feedback and stakeholder input to guide the search.

“We conducted a thorough search guided by our district’s vision and mission, as well as feedback gathered from our community survey and stakeholder interview panel,” Tomasheski said.

He said the board was looking for a leader with both the professional experience and personal qualities to continue the district’s current progress and found that in Heuser.

“Anyone who knows Chad knows that he is a man of integrity, an incredibly hard worker, and someone who cares deeply about the success of every student,” Tomasheski said. “Chad is, and will continue to be, a strong leader for Midview Schools”  .

Before joining Midview, Heuser spent nearly 20 years with Elyria City Schools, where he served as a high school math teacher, department chair and assistant principal.

He joined Midview in 2021 as principal of Midview Middle School before moving into the high school principal role in August 2023. As principal of Midview High School, he has overseen academics, operations, staffing, student support, extracurricular programming, communication and safety for approximately 785 students and 100 staff members  .

Heuser said his goal is to help Midview continue building on its existing foundation.

“Simply put, I want Midview to continue being the best version of itself,” Heuser said.

“As a longtime resident, a parent of both a Midview graduate and a current student, and someone who has spent much of my administrative career here, I have a deep personal investment in this district”  .

He said one of the district’s strengths is the pride shared by students, staff and families across the community.

“The Midview ‘M’ represents a shared sense of connection across our communities,” Heuser said.

He added that his leadership priorities will include maintaining visibility, clear communication and strong relationships while focusing on long-term financial stability and facility planning.

“I look forward to working closely with our Treasurer, Mr. Resar, to ensure the district is positioned for long-term financial stability and to re-engage our community in the district’s strategic plan,” Heuser said  .

Heuser was named the 2025 Zone 5 High School Principal of the Year by the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators, recognizing his leadership and contributions to student success and school culture  .

He and his wife, Rachael, have two daughters who attended Midview Schools, including one current student and one 2024 graduate now attending Ohio University  .

District officials said the school system will immediately begin the search for a new high school principal for the 2026–27 school year while Heuser works alongside Interim Superintendent Meredith Udris during the transition.
