ELYRIA — An Elyria man was arrested early Saturday after police said he sprayed another patron with mace during a disturbance at the Dirty Donkey Tavern & Grill.
According to an Elyria Police Department incident report and Lorain County Jail records, Alexander Gregory Troutman, 24, of Elyria, was arrested following the incident, which was reported at 12:56 a.m. Saturday, July 25.
Police said officers responded to the Dirty Donkey Tavern & Grill after receiving a report that a patron had been sprayed with mace during an altercation inside the bar. When officers arrived, employees told police that other patrons had restrained Troutman until officers reached the scene. Police also noted that surveillance cameras inside the business captured the incident.
According to the report, officers arrested Troutman at approximately 1:04 a.m. He was transported to the Lorain County Jail, where he was booked later that morning on one count of simple assault and one count of disorderly conduct before being released on bond.
The police report did not identify the patron who was sprayed with mace or provide information on the extent of any injuries. Authorities also did not disclose what led to the altercation.
Troutman is scheduled to appear in Elyria Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Monday, July 27, according to Lorain County Jail records.
