Victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds

LORAIN — A 59-year-old man found dead on Washington Avenue earlier this month died from multiple gunshot wounds, and police believe he was shot where his body was discovered.

Lorain police identified the victim Monday as Jorge Pabon, 59, of Lorain. His identity had previously been withheld while authorities worked to locate and notify his family.

Pabon was found Aug. 20 in the 1200 block of Washington Avenue after maintenance workers discovered his body while working at the property. Officers were dispatched to the scene at about 9:30 a.m.

Police said at the time that Pabon appeared to have been dead for several days and that evidence discovered in the immediate area led investigators to treat the death as a homicide.

Police provided additional details Monday, saying Pabon died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators also said there is no indication Pabon was killed elsewhere and later moved or dumped at the property. Police believe the shooting occurred at the same location where his body was found.

In the initial release, police said they were not actively seeking any persons of interest. The department did not announce a suspect or arrest in Monday’s update.

Detectives continue to process available evidence and follow up on tips received from the community, according to police.

The investigation remains ongoing.
