Elyria Police Charge 19-Year-Old After Juvenile Stabbed During Disturbance

ELYRIA — A 19-year-old Elyria man is facing a felony charge after police say a 16-year-old boy was stabbed Sunday afternoon during a large fight involving as many as a dozen people at Colonial Oaks Mobile Home Park.

According to the Elyria Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 4:32 p.m. April 26 to 10425 Middle Ave., the location of Colonial Oaks Mobile Home Park, after reports of a large disturbance involving multiple individuals near the community pavilion.

When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old male suffering from a stab wound. Officers immediately began rendering aid until personnel from the Elyria Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance arrived on scene.

The victim was initially transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center before being transferred to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center for further treatment. Police said the juvenile was later listed in stable condition.

Investigators determined that approximately 10 to 12 individuals had been involved in a physical altercation shortly before the stabbing occurred. Witnesses at the scene identified Adrian Lewis, 19, as the suspect responsible for the stabbing, according to police.

Authorities said Lewis fled the area before officers arrived, prompting an active search by patrol officers and detectives.

Detectives responded to process the scene, interview witnesses and gather evidence while officers continued searching for Lewis.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., officers and investigators located Lewis outside a residence in the 100 block of Kentucky Drive in Elyria. Police said he was taken into custody without incident.

Lewis was charged with felonious assault under Ohio Revised Code 2903.11, a felony of the second degree. He was booked into the Lorain County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending arraignment.

Police said the investigation remains active and additional criminal charges are expected as detectives continue reviewing the involvement of others connected to the fight.
