ELYRIA, Ohio — Two men have been charged following an early morning shooting Thursday in Elyria that left one person hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Elyria Police Department.

Police said officers responded at approximately 2:32 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026, to reports of multiple gunshots fired in the 200 block of Wooster Street. When officers arrived, they located evidence of a shooting. Investigators later learned that an adult male had arrived at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center with a gunshot wound. The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and he remains under medical care. No other injuries were reported.

According to police, patrol officers quickly identified a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting. Within minutes, officers located the vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop without incident. Two suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Elyria Police Department for questioning.

Following the investigation, detectives charged Steven Baker, 22, of Lorain, with two counts of felonious assault, both second-degree felonies, and one count of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, also a second-degree felony.

Police also charged Enrique Hintz, 20, of Bedford, with two counts of complicity to commit felonious assault, both second-degree felonies, and one count of complicity to discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, a second-degree felony.

Both men were transported to the Lorain County Jail, where they are being held on $300,000 cash bonds, according to police.
