5 Kids Detained After Amherst Park Assault

Amherst Police responded this evening to a report of an assault involving several juveniles at Sprenger Park, located near the Five Points intersection.

According to initial scanner reports, three to five children were allegedly involved in an incident in which another child was physically assaulted and thrown into a body of water within the park. The Amherst Police Department quickly deployed a drone to search the wooded area north of the park, where the group was believed to have fled.

Officers established a perimeter, and within an hour, all five individuals were located and detained. No names have been released due to the ages of those involved.
