A 64-year-old man from Newark, Ohio, was arrested outside an Elyria restaurant Thursday night after allegedly yelling at guests and later making repeated comments toward police referencing a slain officer.
According to the Elyria Police Department, officers responded to a report of an unwanted person at Texas Roadhouse around 10:20 p.m. Staff told police the man entered the restaurant wearing jeans and a tank top and began yelling and making obscene remarks to other patrons. The man left before officers arrived and was later found sitting on a bench outside Target.
Police identified him as Amir Nassirharand, who had already been issued a summons earlier in the week for disorderly conduct. Officers attempted to speak with Nassirharand, who reportedly pulled out the prior citation from his pocket and confirmed he’d been cited.
During the interaction, police say Nassirharand repeatedly told officers, “You guys are going to go down like Wagner.” The comment is believed to reference a Lorain police officer who was killed in the line of duty. Due to the nature of the statements and previous contact, Nassirharand was arrested without further incident.
He was charged with Disorderly Conduct – Persisting (M4) and Intimidation (F3) and transported to the Lorain County Jail. According to the report, he remains held without bond pending arraignment in Elyria Municipal Court.
Police advised him he was trespassed from the restaurant. The incident was recorded on officer body-worn cameras.
