LORAIN, Ohio — Police were conducting an active search tonight following a reported armed robbery on Colorado Avenue in Lorain, according to scanner-based updates shared on social media.

Information was shared by Scanning RF through the Monitoring Lorain County Facebook group, which monitors public safety radio traffic.
Scanner traffic indicated Lorain police were dispatched to Smoker’s Paradise on Colorado Avenue around 8:20 p.m. for a report involving a female victim who was robbed by an armed suspect. The suspect was described over the radio as a male wearing all black clothing. Scanner updates further indicated the suspect allegedly took the victim’s firearm and was last seen fleeing on foot in the area of Nebraska Avenue.
As the response continued, police established and expanded a perimeter around the area. Scanner updates indicated a K9 unit was deployed on the ground inside the perimeter, while a Lorain Police Department drone was launched to assist with the search. At one point, the drone was temporarily grounded for a battery swap before returning to the air.

Multiple agencies were reported assisting at the scene. Scanner traffic indicated Sheffield Village police sent units for mutual aid, while Amherst police were also reported on scene, with at least one unit holding the north side of the perimeter.
As of the most recent scanner updates, the perimeter remained active, with K9 and drone resources still being used in an effort to locate the suspect. No information on an arrest or injuries was available at that time.
This is a developing story. All information is based on scanner traffic and social media reports and has not yet been confirmed by an official statement from the Lorain Police Department. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
